Weddings in Santorini Greece
Before the wedding, the happy couple and their closest friends and family that were attending the wedding, went…on a little adventure.
They rented a wooden sailboat and went to the area close to the volcano. They were able to swim in the hot springs and enjoy the stunning Greek island environment.
As their wedding planners Stella & Moscha mentioned: “It was more than a dinner. It was a day of pure fun! What was so lovely about planning this ‘Welcoming Wedding Guests event’ was how specific the couple were about the experience they wanted their guests to have. For example… their love for Greek Food and Greek Music.”
According to Olivia, the entire day at sea: “Was the highlight of the wedding for our guests!”
The rehearsal dinner was held at the Vinsanto restaurant at the Vedema Hotel. A highly interesting restaurant that is a 400 year old winery built from authentic black volcanic stones. “Magical and medieval…that is what it felt like with all the candles and traditional greek music played by locals with the Tsabouna (bagpipe)”, said Olivia.
Justin proposed to Olivia during a romantic trip to one of their favorite places in the world: New Orleans.
Olivia’s advice to other brides that are planning their special day: “Choose a highly professional wedding planner and try to set aside 30 minutes each day to deal with the wedding questions and planning, and then let it go until the next day”.
Olivia was a bride that said “I do in Choo” with a stunning pair of Champagne Glitter Peep Toe Pumps by Jimmy Choo.
Olivia got prepared for her special day at the Thermes Villas, a traditional Cycladic Hotel where the natural elements of rock and wood, the whitewashed walls and blue colors create a chic and colorful ambience.
Olivia’s natural bridal make up was done by Make up Artist Renia Bledaki.
Olivia’s wedding dress was an elegant one shouldered chiffon gown from the bridal collection of Carolina Herrera. Like all the designer’s dresses…there is elegance in every detail.
The wedding ceremony was held at the Cathedral in Fira. The interior of the temple is impressive with the one of a kind paintings of the artist Christopher Asimis. Olivia mentioned: “My dad walked me to the Cathedral with my family while traditional musicians played; the ceremony was of course all in Greek but we did have the bible readings in English”.
The bridal bouquet was a lovely collection of coral roses and white freesia to add aroma. As Olivia wanted her Greek origin to be incorporated in the wedding concept, her main choice of inspiration was olive branches and leaves. Her wedding planner Stella from Stella & Moscha shared with us: “The wedding flowers and decoration had a classic Greek influence with olive branches and coral hued flowers and details” .
Olivia and Justin met at their best friends’ wedding…Their friends made sure that were sitting purposefully next to each other at the wedding reception on the beach in Grand Cayman. According to Olivia, “Justin was wearing a white linen suit and had a mysterious accent (he is from South Africa)…he swept me off my feet…”
