The humidity does not add considerably to the heat you feel during the hottest days either. Combine mild temperatures with few rainy days, and you have pleasant vacation weather.
Spring Temperatures
From March through May, the weather in Athens is pleasant and mild. The average daytime high temperatures range from 60 degrees in March to 78 degrees in May, according to Weather.com. The average nighttime lows range from 47 degrees in March to 59 degrees in May. It’s a popular time for older tourists to visit because kids are still in school, tourist areas are less crowded and the weather is perfect. Matt Barrett’s Athens Survival Guide says that all you need is a windbreaker or sweater to keep warm.
Summer Temperatures
June through August are the peak temperature times in Athens. The average daytime high ranges from 85 degrees in June to 90 degrees in August, according to Weather.com. The low temperatures are 68 degrees in June to 72 degrees in August. Though July is the warmest month on average, August is a month when many Athenians get out of the city, according to Travelinfo.gr. The temperatures make the beaches of Greece a popular place to be. If you visit in the summer, make sure you rent a hotel room with air conditioning.
Fall Temperatures
Fall temperatures in Athens are similar to the spring temperatures. Average daily highs range from 84 degrees in September to 65 degrees in November, according to Weather.com. The average nighttime lows range from 66 degrees in September to 52 degrees in November. October is considered to have good weather, but you can also get rain and high winds that cool off the days. A windbreaker or sweater should be enough to keep you comfortable.
Winter Temperatures
Winter months are also the rainy months in Greece. The average daytime high ranges from 58 degrees in December to 56 degrees in February, according to Weather.com. The average nighttime lows range from 46 degrees in November to 44 degrees in February. It can also get cold enough to snow in Athens on occasion. January is usually the coolest month on average.
Humidity
High humidity can make the temperatures seem much higher than they are. Humidity in Athens isn't typically high, so isn't usually a factor. May and October are considered moderate months with relative humidity 50 percent to 60 percent. June through September are considered medium months with, relative humidity 40 percent to 50 percent These percentages may mean you’ll feel the warmth of the day, but you shouldn’t be too uncomfortable.
